Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton's song "Tears In Heaven" has to be one of the saddest songs I know. It was written after a nine month grieving period following the tragic loss of his 4 year old son Conor. While Eric Calpton was staying with Conor's mother in a New York City apartment whom Clapton had never married, Conor accidentally fell 50 stories from a carelessly left open window. It's a sad song but one that makes you realize everyone is so human.

Another great Eric Clapton song that makes me think of my own beautiful wife is "Wonderful Tonight". He wrote this song in 1976 for girlfriend, and future wife, Patti as he waited for her to get ready for a night out. I don't wait long stretches for Wendy but I do understand the words and do think she looks wonderful every night!

James Blunt

My first choice to start my blog has to be James Blunt. With only 1 CD (Back To Bedlam) so far to his credit he is on his way to being a great songwriter and singer.

Check out his site at: http://www.jamesblunt.com/

As of today there is 33 days to the release of his 2nd CD (All The Lost Souls) with the first track "1973" already getting lots of radio play. His music speaks of so many personal stories such as the last track "No Bravery" from Back To Bedlam.

James Blunt grew up in a home in Britain where music was viewed as more of a disruption than anything else. His father was a career military man. James tried University studying Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering then, like his father tried the military where he ended up as a British soldier in Kosovo. It was in Kosovo in 1999 with a guitar strapped to his tank that he wrote the song "No Bravery". James does not like to discuss what he means in all his songs but it is not hard to understand what "No Bravery" is all about. He now lives in California with a reputation as quite the party goer. Nothing wrong with that.
I'm struggling right now with embedding youtube videos into this darn blog so for now all I can supply is links.
